ARE WE FUTURE SEDIMENT? (2022) | AMAUTA GARCÍA & DAVID CAMARGO / ART INSTALLATION BY STICHTING NDSM-WERF

SOMOS FUTURO SEDIMENTO? / Are we future sediment?

Given the possibility that part of Amsterdam will be below the sea in 50 years, we imagine that its current soil would be the sediment of tomorrow, and we wonder if welcoming water is a good step to learn to live with it instead of fighting it. This project hopes to welcome water through public intervention, which consists of a fog catcher that helps condense water from the air and a piping system that directs this condensed water to a mobile garden. The structure is 5 meters high; exactly the estimated height of the rising water level in 2070.

The circularity of the piece is important to us, therefore, when the intervention ends, the plants are given to people who live or work near the place and the fog catcher is donated to a space that needs it.
