Small volcanic stones of unknown origin, sold as cheap garden ornaments in European towns far from any volcano, are collected and melted until they briefly flow again like lava. A domestic gas heater, pushed beyond its usual role of comfort appliance, becomes a small furnace. A thermal camera registers the gradients of heat, the gestures of a performance and the invisible circulation of energy around it. The work asks where this heat and the gas that fuels it actually come from: which mines, pipelines, monocultures and sacrifice zones lie behind a seemingly neutral flame? By turning these decorative stones back into lava, the piece traces the extractive routes that power everyday life and questions who is entitled to consume this energy—and at what environmental and social cost.
